After a disastrous road trip that included a blown 19 point lead in Charlotte and a drubbing at the hand of the Pacers, the Thunder come back home for a decisive 4 game home stand. The brutal stretch includes games against the Spurs (and recent Thunder killer Manu Ginobili), the Rockets (and recent Thunder killer the entire Rockets team), the Lakers (supposedly they’re pretty good) and the Trailblazers (healthier and playing well). How the Thunder fares in these next four games, all played within exactly one week, will be crucial in deciding playoff seeding. In the competitive Western Conference this season, the difference between a 4 seed and an 8 seed is one game here or there. In all honesty, 3-1 in this homestand would make me giddy as heck. Going 2-2 would be disappointing but understandable. 1-3 would be awful, and 0-, ya know, let’s not even mention that one. Of course, I’m still holding out hope for an angry, frustrated, focused team to come out and go 4-0. But then again, that’s why we’re fans, isn’t it? We wouldn’t be if we thought any other way.
